When Annie’s father lost his business, her life changed. But, once her friends discovered her talent, they had an idea that not only helped her family, but the entire community. The Young People of Purpose (YPOP) after-school arts program is based on the book Annie’s Amazing Art Venture created by Diane Washington. The story and artwork are by Diane Washington, founder and executive director of YPOP. Illustrations are by Jerome Washington. What started as a way to introduce art to youth became a community outreach movement.
